The golden eagle is a symbol of strength and daring - that's why it is often used as a heraldic animal. He lives in monogamous permanent marriage and is "up to date". He usually builds his nest at around 1000 m above sea level. Of two boys, only two rarely fledge. Often the larger nestling kills the smaller one. At 80 days, young birds have reached the size of adult birds. The existence of the golden eagle is threatened and his shooting is forbidden by law. Golden eagles are the only eagle species that breeds in Upper Austria. There are currently about 25 to 30 pairs breeding in the Limestone Alps and the Dead Mountains.
